My kiddos are too young to enter the local fair exhibits so we are entering them in this contest. :) :D Turn your kiddo loose! (With supervision of course...) What a great math lesson as well ;) :)

Sorry this post is so short, but I have the summer flu. :( Eeeeeeeewwwwwwwwwww.... Hopefully this week I will have another free pattern. :) I want to do one a week. :)

Free Pattern of the week!!!!

Do you want to make a Girl's Danna?
:D Here are the instructions :D All feedback is welcome and appreciated!

These are your pattern pieces! :D

Here are my pieces all cut out! :D Remember Piece A you will cut one of, then flip it over and cut the second piece.

Pin your pieces right side together matching you Piece B (rectangle) with the front of Piece A. Pin this all the way to where the tail starts. Stitch slowly to ensure accuracy :D

Then stitch the second Piece A to Piece B, again right sides together:D This is what it looks like on a table! :D

This is the pic on my model sewing machine! :)heheheh
Then do the finishing hems, tie it up and wala! Depending on the look you are after you can add longer tails, a contrasting band, etc! :D It is all up to you :D
Also, for all those loving dh's out there : this is great to wear under hard hats and motorcycle helmets ;D

**Tips :) Everyone has a slightly different head shape. These are custom for my dh and he does have an oddball head. So, when you go to try it make sure you need that same slope, or change it up a bit ;)! Have fun! And post pics of finished products!!! :)

I am always doing quite a bit of 'mcsewing' and feel it needs that extra oomf to give it the edge that I want. I typically do that using screen printing! :) But it is expensive you say.... hmmmmm You need to visit

Craftgrrl

She offers a great tutorial on how to do 'cheap' screen printing. And it is only cheap in the sense of cost, not the results. :)

This is a denim rag quilt. :) I will be making one just like this for a friend of mine. Her husband passed away this year, tragicly. She was giving away his clothes, so I snagged them and stole all of his pants!!! LOL :) What better way to stay close to a loved one that passed too soon than to snuggle with his most beloved jeans! :) I am starting on it this Monday. Wish me luck! :) :)

Oh my! I forgot to hit post last night! LOL! So now I am having to retype my entire entry! LOL! :) I had written this long blog speaking of free tutorials and patterns. If you are a beginner, sometimes free is your best friend. Other times, it makes you want to never pick up needle and thread again! :) I thought it would be fun to do a sewalong this week :) I was thinking of using the newsboy hat pattern at diynetwork.com!!! :)

Humph!

Well, I promised one post per day about sewing. Today has been SUCH a long drawn out ordeal... (We ripped up the floors in our house and the bedroom floor is just now drying ;( We have all of the things that were in our bedroom pushed into the living room. :( GRRR >:<>
On to sewing. :) I want to inform you of what machines I have. This way if you need to ask a question you will have an idea of whether I can help or not... LOL! :)
I have a Singer 7462 (my first love) :D And consider myself an intermediate user.
I have a Singer 4 thread serger (my first mortal enemy) and consider myself a beginner.
I plan on purchasing a Singer Quantum Futura in March :D heheheheheheehhehe!

So, what machines do you have? Do you have a good hand stitch? I don't ! :P LOL! ;) With the floors torn out and the beautiful hardwoods glistening below I am able to plan on what I am sewing for my bedroom :) I have curtains I made in the living room and kitchen. Curtains, pillows and throws in the girls room :) Time for a total revamp in my room :P :) Woooohooo!

In honor of National Sewing Month

Hehe.... I am copying Rostitchery... and in some ways, challenging her to a duel. I, Dianna Leigh, hereby pledge to make 1 sewing post per day for the remaining days in the month of September! :) I feel like this would be a perfect way to revive my blog and a fun way to share the knowledge that I have struggled to gain from everywhere. :) Now, my blog is just a supplement to the most wonderful sites and blogs out there. Here are a few recommendations:

Craftster -very 'hip' little site that I had to pitch an out and out hissy on to get a childrens section added. :( I ended up leaving the community memberwise, and they finally caved and added a childrens section :) I go back ever so often just to see the creations!!! :)
Sewing Mamas - a great site with free pattern and tip downloads for members! All about sewing for the kiddos, and sometimes the moms!
Rostitchery - She has patterns and tips on many items! The most popular being the one seam convertible dress! She also has the pillowcase dress, nursing tops and even knitting!!! This woman does it all!!!!!! I bow to her! :)
Everything Sewing - This site is more about heirloom sewing! I love this wonderful group of ladies!!! :) They have always answered my questions! And Brook even has a homesteading group! :D I love them all! :)

If you haven't heard me already speak of the Bettendorfs, you absolutely must see their blog! :) I 'met' Katie on Craftster, where she posted outfits she had sewn for her children! :) Unfortunately, Jillie was diagnosed with cancer and undergone treatment. :) But, she is now CANCER FREE! :) I just love this family and feel like I know them intimately!!! This is a SUPERMOM to be reckoned with!! :) Visit Katie, her husband Jeff, and there 11 (soon to be 12) kids at their main site! Resurrecting the dead blog! Whew! I have been away for sooooo long :( We have had sooooo many tragedies hit that I don't even know where to begin. Mom passed away July 13, 2007 (my Mother in law) and it has hit us all hard. She was the last grandparent for the kiddos and a main figure in their lives. It was with great sadness that we continue on and try to live our lives to the fullest without her here. She was a great women and is worthy of numerous awards, sadly a life taken too early. Mom passed at 1152 pm EST on Friday, July 13th, 2007. She leaves behind three children, 6 grandchildren and a community that loved her. Our prayers have been going upwards in hopes that she receives them. We continue to pray for everyone affected by her death.

Mood: Bitchy ! Sobbing, irritable as hell! >:<
You know.. I always try to be thankful for everything in life that I have. Here lately is getting pretty hard as Kammie's migraines are increasing in frequency and intensity :( She is going to the podiatrist tomorrow to schedule her surgery. Zoe is going to the ENT on the 22nd because she has gotten strep 8 times since her tonsillectomy. :( I just wish they would get better. I think about it every day and constantly beg for someone to help. I thought my requests were answered. A pediatric neurologist called and could see us on Thursday! What a miracle! Well... that is what I thought. :( We leave out here at 10 am to make it to an 11 am appt. Well, no more than 15 minutes down the road the car breaks down. It overheats! AGAIN! :( so I pull over at the auto store (luck I guess) buy 15 dollars worth of fluids and call Justin witching! Well Kammie and I decide to make the best out of a bad situation and head on over the Dairy Queen for ice cream. After all, she says she thinks maybe icecream will make the headaches go away. :) I love her. :D She is so full of sweet innocence! :) SO we treat ourselves to icecream while waiting for Daddy (superman she says) :D He comes to the rescue and we are off again. Headed to somewhere off of hwy 29 (this is the best that the ditz receptionist can tell me) We went all the way to tucker 100 miles away.... No office I end up traveling this 3 times thinking I was just being stupid and not seeing the office. (mind you our budget is tight and with the price of gas at 2.40 a gallon I really cannot afford this). I end up going into this Family Healthcare office and having a complete and total nervous/mental breakdown. We have been trying to get Kammie seen since December for pete's sake! They were so sweet. They gave Kammers to Lollies and gave me a glass of water and told me it would be okay. Gee, what an arse I am. Sitting there sobbing in some strange doctors office. The ladies there were so nice that they decided to call the office and get directions. When the nurse gets off the phone ... she looks at me and says" hun you need to find a different doctor" LMAO Gah, I wish I could. Every other child neurologist (there is like 8 of them?) can't see her til august and it cannot wait that long. so there I go, bawling like a baby again. You have got to understand exactly how awful I feel about all of this. I am Supermom. Never miss a beat and never miss an apt. Well, today we did and I just couldn't bear it... Had it been a dental appt or routine check up maybe I would have faired better. But today we were on the edge of knowing what caused Kammers migraines....................

oy! What a bad blogger I have been! Things have been hectic around here as usual :) So, my new years resolution was to blog at least twice a week. January 5th 2007- LOL Finally ! A long awaited blog update! :) Life has been so hectic here lately! :D Zoe recovered from surgery just fine. But she is still sick all of the time! Bleck! :) Kammie celebrated her 7th birthday on December 28th by having a barbie cake that she wanted momma to make and opening presents. That night she spent the night with her best friend Cassidy! :D Then on the 29th when she came back home, we did exactly what she wanted to celebrate her birthday! KAMMIE WENT ON A SHOPPING SPREE! LOL She has 5 new outfits, 3 new pairs of shoes, new belts, new hats and some more toys (as if she needs any!). :) :D So Christmas went off without a hitch, besides everyone being sick! :( We have the flu at the moment but will recover soon hopefully! :D Zoe's bday is on the 15th of the month. :D We are having her a party (because she wants a party not money! lol) on the 20th. Invites will be going out later this week for that! And we will take plenty of pics so we can share here! I should have taken pics of Kammie on her lil' spree and had a movie montage moment! LOL I wish I would have thought of that! :) Well I am absolutely postively swamped! I have two major swaps going on right now on WWW.CRAFTSTER.ORG ! THE BEST PLACE IN THE WORLD FOR CRAFTING! :) Well, off to cook a late lunch! I will check back in Monday and update pics!

OMGosh! :D How badly life comes in the way of blogging! LOL Well, as most know Zoe came out of her surgery just fine! There were some minor complications during the surgery but I am ecstatic to report she is good! :) Kammie is doing well, having a blast at school, and up to more trouble than usual! hehehehe. Tyler is just being Tyler and missing school once again.... *sigh* oh well...... I have really tried... I just don't know what else to do.........

Oh I am such an awful blogger! So sorry about that! :S :\ LOL I have just been 'sew' busy trying to learn how to better myself at sewing! ;D The girls are loving school! Poor Zoe has been so sick this year that she has missed most of school :( I know we are going to end up having to have a tonsillectomy, but I don't want to think about that right now! Whatever will keep her from hurting and being so sick! Well, back to my sewing! I don't know if I can handle setting back down at my machine! I can't figure out how to hem satin! ARRG!

Tomorrow is Promotion Sunday at church! I was so excited to be able to meet my class and watch the girls go onto their next class. :) But, today we ran into a bit of an issue.... THE GIRLS HAVE CHICKEN POX!!!!!!!!! Zoe woke up this morning the little bity bumps (looked like eczema outbreak) had spread over her shoulders and to her chest area. We were devistated. :(( Then I started inspecting Kammie.... Low and Behold..... SHE HAS IT TOO. She woke up with none and with in an hour of being awake was covered from head to toe with the rash herself. I have already had Chicken Pox once, knock on wood, and hopefully I won't get it a second time.
:(( LOL Keep the girlies in your prayers as this is a hard time for them. Kammers hasn't felt this badly since we dealt with her going through the Kawasaki's disease. Well, 'til next time, here is to no scratching!!!

Zoe's Grandma was in the hospital on her birthday, so to make up for putting her party off for a week we decided to try Fire Mountain and while we were there Zoe had the birthday song sang to her! She was embarrassed! It was so cute!

Part of Santa and the birthday celebration was doing the girls room. Kammie wanted black, and she got it. Zoe wanted pink and purple, and she got it in the form of flowers and trim out colors. Everyone I have mentioned the room to is "scared" (to quote Fran). LOL. By the time I am finished EVERYTHING will be black, purple, or pink. :) LOL

Okay, Kammie's birthday is on December 28th. Her birthday fell on a weekday this year so we had her party the following Saturday, New Year's Eve.
